Albatross History-5-1979 Little Louise shows her metal
Albatross History-5-1979 Louise Taylor (top pic) now 13 made a heroic comeback after a serious injury. She always showed huge potential and this was suddenly cut short. We all missed her during previous months and were so pleased that she resumed her confidence She was the pride of Albatross when she represented the club in an advanced Southern Counties Championship springboard competition at Crystal Palace which entailed 10 dives. She competed with senior level divers from which the Juniors were extracted in the results. Side by side Louise and Marianne and dived their socks off. Marianne 12 brought home a bronze from Huddersfield, and a silver from Crystal Palace in the 3 metre National Age Group Springboard, and the Southern Counties Junior Championships (under 17) respectively.
Adults were expressing interest in forming a section to themselves and were eager to dive.
They soon came on board and also performed in our musical displays. Many were on the learning curve for teaching and officiating within the club also. And…you don’t get Championship results without the Diving Recorders. Courses were being run by Graham Green who was an International Recorder .
