Albatross History-9-1979 First birthday Gala with National VIPs
Albatross History-9- 1979 Albatross first Gala attracted a full balcony overflowing onto poolside. The audience including many VIP Officials from the National and Southern Scene, including Mr John Zimmermann President of the Amateur Swimming Association and his wife. The whole building was filled with very vip,vip vip special people.
Many attractions were held on the evening, starting with the Divers opening the evening with their spectacular display to “Albatross.” Adult divers joined in too from poolside.
Royals Synchronised Swimmers added grace to the scene. Raffles, Father Christmas and a chance for the divers to let their hair down after weeks of training and achieving great style in time for the battle for the Trophies in the Annual Club Championships. Preliminaries had been held over the preceding three weeks and the points carried forwards and added to the final round of dives in each event performed in the Gala..
Of course, the inevitable happened at the end of the evening. With much laughter chief coach (self) was unceremoniously chucked in.
Chucked in!
At the end of the evening guests were presented with bouquets and a reception with flowers, food with wine , plus a big square birthday cake, all held in the foyer. The crowd lingered way past the “hire” deadline but
no-one seemed to be bothered.
