Albatross History-2-1979 Louise Taylor, another bright new star “discovered” in a public session trying to emulate divers in training ! with R. Marianne Green County Junior Champ. They were going to prove good for each other!
Albatross History-2-1979 Suzanne falls off the board and Paul doubles up
Albatross History-2-1979 Wonderful achievement for Paul Holton who came tops in the County Boys Springboard Championship. He had not lost his style or technique following a 15 month lay off. We had all missed him during the last year or so. A very strong member of the Reading Diving Team and Bronze medallist at the National Age Group Competitions 1978.
Catastrophe for Suzanne Smith in the National Age Groups Championships – she fell off the board. The referee wouldn’t allow her to re dive the dive. This undoubtedly cost her first place. She continued to dive bravely to third place just 1 point behind silver placing and nine points behind gold placing.
Newcomer to this level of diving was Louise Taylor (pic top) who dived to 6th place in a field of 24. A very good performance and showed signs of being a top diver in the future. I noticed Louise in a public session when training the squad. She was trying so hard to bounce the board and imitate the hurdle step of some of the divers. There was just something about Louise!
